Old Town Alexandria & Environs
With an abundance of bars, restaurants, hotels, historic sites, and vintage shops, Old Town Alexandria is an extremely popular weekend destination. The free King Street Trolley runs between the King Street Metro and the Waterfront. Alexandria is highly ranked in many national publications such as Conde Nast Traveler’s 2019 ranking of the best small cities in America (#3), Money’s #1 Best Value travel destination (2018), and Southern Living’s South’s Prettiest Cities (2018).
In addition to exploring Old Town, you can cruise down the Potomac to George Washington's Mount Vernon or up the Potomac to view Washington DC's monuments and landmarks.
A short drive south from the George Washington Masonic National Memorial are Frank Lloyd Wright's Pope-Leighey House and, on May 2nd, the Hollin Hills House and Garden Tour, one of the nation's premier mid-century house tours.

Gadsby's Tavern Museum
consists of two buildings, a ca. 1785 tavern and the 1792 City Hotel. The buildings are named for Englishman John Gadsby who operated them from 1796 to 1808. Mr. Gadsby's establishment was a center of political, business, and social life in early Alexandria. The tavern was the setting for dancing assemblies, theatrical and musical performances, and meetings of local organizations. George Washington enjoyed the hospitality provided by tavernkeepers and twice attended the annual Birthnight Ball held in his honor. Other prominent patrons included John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, and the Marquis de Lafayette.

Carlyle House Historic Park
Carlyle House is an historic mansion in Alexandria, Virginia, United States, built by Scottish merchant John Carlyle in 1751–53. It is situated in the city's Old Town on North Fairfax Street between Cameron and King Streets.

The Torpedo Factory Arts Center was originally a naval munitions factory during World War I but has been converted into an arts center along the waterfront in Old Town.

Visit Frank Lloyd Wright's
Pope-Leighey House
During the 1930s, Frank Lloyd Wright set his formidable attention towards designing affordable middle-class residences. More than 100 of these modest homes, referred to as Usonian, thought to mean "the United States of North America," were constructed between 1936 and Wright's death in 1959, including the Pope-Leighey House (1940). Commissioned in 1939 by Loren Pope, a journalist in Falls Church, VA, the residence was sold to Robert and Marjorie Leighey in 1946.
The Pope-Leighey House is located on the grounds of Woodlawn Plantation, 9000 Richmond Highway, Alexandria VA 22309. It is about 10 miles south of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.

Hollin Hills House & Garden Tour
The largest mid-century modern home and garden tour on the East Coast returns next spring. Hollin Hills, the award-winning mid-century modern neighborhood in Alexandria, VA, will host its 2020 House + Garden Tour on Saturday, May 2.
This self-guided walking tour will showcase stunning examples of mid-century modern architecture, landscaping and interior design throughout this unique neighborhood listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register and National Register of Historic Places.
Hollin Hills is located about 5 miles south of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.
